Mark Reynolds

Even though he hates this nickname...

I love the Sheriff!

Except for leagues where strikeouts count against you.  What's not to like?

A couple (important) things need to happen before he reaches the top five tier.  He's got to hit the off-speed pitches more consistently, & he's got to start covering the outside of the plate by taking it to the opposite field.

There's no denying this kids power.  We'll just have to see if he improves on those two things mentioned above.  Since pitchers usually dominate the hitters early at the beginning of the season with off-speed stuff.  Give him 3 months.  If he starts hitting the off-speed by early June, you got a steal.  & your top 5 third baseman.  Make sure the rest of your league knows it too!

Another thing to note...   Reynolds started out of the gate hitting homeruns last year.  (Along with some other D-backs)  & there's a real good chance it will happen again this year.  Especially home games where it is nice n toasty.  Which makes it is so worth picking him up in the late rounds.

Fantasy Gold

Mark Reynolds about single handedly won my third straight Fantasy Baseball Championship. I picked him up a month or 2 into the season off of Free Agency and his numbers continued to gain stride throughout the year. He went on a couple mad HR tears. He definitely is a risk next year because of his strikeout total and the lack of consistency in the Diamondbacks lineup. He will see less good pitches to hit next year and Mark himself has yet to prove that he can consistently put up those same power numbers. He's a lot of fun to watch though and he definitely has talent. It will be interesting to see if he can repeat his success in 2010 and lower those swing and misses.

Mark Reynolds

I really like Mark Reynolds. I just recently did my draft and took him with one of my last picks as a backup corner infielder. If he can make more contact, he'll be a valuable asset. He produces runs and scores runs, and he definitely has some power. He just needs to up that batting average and not strikeout so much. His job is definitely safe in Arizona. I think he's a smart pick.
